Abstract and Reference cited are missing in some publication

Post by sujith3g » Tue Jul 14, 2015 2:43 pm

I'm using OPS published data service to extract the bibliographic details. I have noticed that Abstract and Reference cited are missing in some publications of a patent.

I have tried with EP1231236, http://ops.epo.org/3.1/rest-services/pu ... 236/biblio, It gives me 3 different publications of the patent.

But only the first publication has the Abstract and Reference cited data. Does OPS published data service provide Abstract and Reference cited only for the first publication ?

If I search with kind code(ie, EP.1231236.B1)http://ops.epo.org/3.1/rest-services/pu ... .B1/biblio, I will miss the abstract and Reference cited. Is this an issue with this particular patent ?

How to use the OPS published data service in the right way to retrieve bibliographic details without missing Abstract/Reference Cited/any other field ?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

This is normal procedure that many other offices follow. Abstracts and applicant citations are only available for first publications (normally either A1 and A2) and not for granted documents (B).

In Espacenet we then link abstract and citations from A document to biblio of B document and you can introduce similar procedure in your database/search engine (see picture attached).

Kind regards,
