Acrobat and Reader problem

I have installed the online filing software on Vista Business. According to the instructions I first installed Acrobat Reader.

After the installation of the online filing software, I installed Adobe Acrobat Pro. Now the online filing software complains that Acrobat Reader is not installed, when showing the "ready to sign" window. I did not remove Acrobat Reader and Reader is still my default application to view PDF's

Any hints or ideas how to resolve this ?

Hello basjan,

I believe the underlying problem is that the interface is set during the installation of OLF - and upgrading Adobe Acrobat does sometime have an effect on this interface - the easiest to repair is to simply re-install OLF as the Acrobat Reader interface should then be aligned with the new situation in the system.

I will raise this with developers and see whether there are other hints.

Let me know whether re-installing helped or not.

And here is the reply from development:

The application is looking for the following registry keys:

In the first found key it gets the .exe path and tries to locate the .exe file. If it fails to find both keys and/or the .exe file it considers Acrobat Reader not installed.

In case the users are missing both keys (while their Adobe Reader 8 is installed) they could try to correct all the paths manually.

I hope this helps,
