Re: PSN_ID changed?

Hi mkracker, thank you very much for your advice, which solves the basic problem and avoided many mismatches in my studies. However, I have tried to match PATSTAT autumn 2019 data with my older downloads from PATSTAT autumn 2015 or 2018 via PERSON_ID and there were many records where a PERSON_ID fro...

PSN_ID changed?

Hello, I was wondering if the PSN_ID changed at some point. In my "old" data from Patstat spring 2018 (not online) I have for example for PSN_NAME=SIEMENS the PSN_ID=26339403 However, in Patstat online autumn 2019 for Siemens it is PSN_ID=27767728 This does hold also for other companies, w...

Re: Elapsed time until patent decision

Hi, thanks again for your very comprehensive reply! So basically it is not crucially necessary for me to replicate the national statistics by the DPMA in detail. Just some good explanations why my numbers are different and your opinion on my code not being rubbish is fine :) Indeed DPMA statistics m...

Re: Elapsed time until patent decision

Thank you very much, for the grants you are probably right that just using TLS211_PAT_PUBLN.PUBLN_FIRST_GRANT='Y' and get the PBLN_DATE should be sufficient here. For rejected patents from Germany I replied to the DPMA in hope for an answer on which codes refer to rejections. Your advice that pendli...

Elapsed time until patent decision

Hello everyone, I am interested in how long the corresponding patent office takes to finally decide upon a patent, thus rejection or grant. I have written a code for Patstat online and it works. However, it might not yield what I am looking for. Here is the code for patents from German applicants at...

defective table TLS206 resp. TLS906

Hi, the topic nearly summarizes my problem completely. Almost every query I start containing table TLS206_PERSON results in a crash of my SQL server. I am using PATSTAT 2018 spring and HeidiSQL as a server. Has anyone experienced a typical problem with any kind of table and what could be a solution?...

Re: Count number of granted patents per year

Hello Geert, thanks for your code. Some smaller remarks: - The YEAR operator is very useful! However it doesn't change the count per year. - It seems the code is quite the same as mine with minor changes. E.g. does it matter to exclude the DISTINCT command in the first line? I think I better keep it...

Re: Count number of granted patents per year

Hello Geert, what I would like to have in the end is the following: HRM_L2 | HRM_L2_ID | PUBLN_DATE | COUNT(TLS201_APPLN.APPLN_ID) ... BAYER | 1721979 | 01.01.2005 | 1 BAYER | 1721979 | 04.01.2005 | 3 BAYER | 1721979 | 11.01.2005 | 9 BAYER | 1721979 | 12.01.2005 | 3 BAYER | 1721979 | 15.01.2005 | 1 ...

Count number of granted patents per year

Hi all, my question is somehow as stated in the subject: I want to get a panel of all granted patents (e.g. in Germany), grouped by applicant (company) and year the patent was granted (not the application date). I was pretty sure my code was correct, but the results from current research using this ...

Re: NACE Rev. 2 Classification of an Applicant

Thank you, guys! @ Nico: Other database will not help me. I want to get the NACE Code in order to match Patstat with another database and use the Code to enhance my matching approach ;-) @ Martin: Ok, so your advice would be multiplying WEIGHT with the number of applications in each NACE class and t...
