Re: API Schema documentation?
Hi, All calls that can be made in OPS are available in the Developers Area, aka "test OPS". All documentation is on the website. Both sources, the Developers Area, and the documentation (yaml, xsd files) you reach through this page: https://www.epo.org/en/searching-for-patents/data/web-ser...

Re: Robot detect
Hi There are a few different reasons why 403 errors happen; the most common are: * reaching the weekly data quantity limitation * reaching daily or hourly limitations (see the OPS manual for details). * not adjusting (going over) the number of requests per minute as in the throttling header (see th...

Re: Inquiry about issues on patent data deletion and omission
Hi, Every time there is a rekey or other cleanup exercise in DOCDB in XML in bulk, we inform users by sending an automatic notification via the BDDS, explaining what we are planning to do and how users have to treat the data on their end. In both mentioned cases, we were doing a rekey, and for the d...

Re: OPS limitations and modifying search terms
Hi, The Python GitHub pages are not from the EPO, so I cannot comment. But the way to limit the search query is by adding additional search criteria, like publication dates, company names, kind codes of jurisdictions, or any other search terms or keywords. Available field identifiers can be found in...

Re: PATSTAT GLOBAL Frontfile vs Single edition
Hi No, what you describe is true only for bulk raw data sets. Patstat is produced twice per year. If you get a subscription to Patstat 2024, you get both editions, and if you choose a single edition, you only get one edition, either the Spring or Autumn edition. Whatever you want is your choice. In ...

Re: Ambiguous response when querying published data for Japan with a wild card kind code
Hi, In fact, that is a feature of OPS and not a mistake in response. The ambiguous seed informs you that your query has to be amended because there are two (or more) documents found that correspond to your number query. You have to choose one of the proposed options in order to display it. Regards V...

Re: Strange epodoc-Number for AU-Documents
Hi,
I suspect this is because your number is incomplete; its missing a kind code and the date:
The correct URL is
.../number-service/publication/original/AU2020203843A1.20220106/docdb
Same works for epodoc format.
