Re: RSS-Feeds for Espacenet patent families

Hello August,
to exclude that it is an application or local setup issue,
could you kindly let use know the patent numbers where you experience this error ?

Re: Retrieve inventors patenting activity from list of target firms

Hello Filippo, here is adapted version that takes into account the year of filing by joining tls201 and adding the timeframe in the WHERE clause. SELECT ap.appln_id, appln_auth,appln_nr, appln_kind, appln_filing_date,appln_nr_epodoc, pers.person_id, ap.applt_seq_nr, ap.invt_seq_nr,pers.person_name, ...

Re: Retrieve inventors patenting activity from list of target firms

Hello Filippo, I assume you are using PATSTAT Online, which rather complicates doing the kind of data aggregation you need. PATSTAT Online does not allow users to create intermediate tables or views. Your question is a typical example where one would need the intermediate results from an initial fir...

RELEVANT_CLAIM: Missing values

The citation data of more recent patent publications of certain offices not only contain the mandatory citation category (X, Y, A, ..) but also much richer information: For example the citations contain the information which claims are affected by which category. Since the 2019 Spring Edition, PATST...

Re: UniProt to patent data

Hi Jerven, I applaud your effort to link from the extensive UniProt data set to the EPO patents. Let me give some comment and notes for improvement, because patent information is not always self-explanatory. For easier reference, I attached a PPT slide with a real example. UniProt-Example_v1.0.pptx ...

Re: Count number of patent applications and citations per company

Hello Thomas, here is an extension on the previous query. It gives you all granted applications filed by 'OSRAM OPTO SEMICONDUCTORS' and the number of forward citations. This figure is family-family based citations, but we do not distinguish between the origin of the citations. (search, applicant, e...

Person original name leads to different results when doing "counts".

Original names leading to un-expected patent counts in PATSTAT 2019a PATSTAT users have asked us why the results of certain “counts” divert from results obtained via previous PATSTAT versions. For example: counting the number of applications filed in 2013 (query below) for applicant “Canon KK” will ...

Re: Count number of patent applications - replicate annual report figures ?

Hello Karvey, it is not possible to replicate the annual report figures with PATSTAT for a number of reasons: a) annual reports are a reflection of "workload for the EPO" and do include withdrawn applications -also not yet published-. If an applicant decides to withdraw the application after having ...

Re: Utility Model Artificial (Dummy) Applications

In the data catalog we explain the artificial applications as follows (page 29 vers. 5.13 amend 1): “Artificial applications are added to PATSTAT to manage doubt about applications which have not been captured in the DOCDB database from which PATSTAT is built. There are several cases: - Application ...
