Re: vanishing applications across ediction

Hello Gainluca, the most "general rule" for these "disappearances" is the cleaning of the database and removal of duplicates, etc... If you look-up the PUBLICATIONS linked to those "disappeared" applications in the 2018an database, you will see that they are now linked to an application (with the sa...

Re: Patent Publication Research

Hello Flavio, for sample queries, kindly seach previous forum posts, there are plenty examples. If you would write a query that results in a list that contains all your listed data attributes, then you will have plenty of duplicates at publication (citation) level. Such list can of course be used fo...

Re: Spanish applicant 1st Publications by tech field

Hello Jantonio, your query looks fine, apart from 1 small mistake; 'Y02E 10/7%' should have 2 spaces between the E and the 10. (But maybe double spaces are removed in forum posts by the spell check.) Just keep in mind that CPC (and IPC) codes need 4 digits and you have to replenish with blanks. (Man...

Re: Applications in B25J/Y10S but not B60W/B60K/B60L

Hello Joachim, your query does not do what I think you want it to do. Basically, what you intend to do is to exclude a subset from your applications that are defined by the first conditions "AND (LEFT(ipc_class_symbol, 4) = 'B25J' OR LEFT(cpc_class_symbol, 4) = 'B25J' OR LEFT(cpc_class_symbol, 4) = ...

Re: publn_date, tls209, weight

Dear Leo, 1) Yes. See the description of this attribute in the Data Catalog: “EARLIEST_PUBLN_DATE: Date of earliest publication of an application” 2) Yes, it is possible, and actually it is very likely. Usually there are more IPCs for a single application, so there are as many rows in table TLS209_A...

Re: search applicants' country of origin.

Hello mhollifi, Good idea but no; that information is not available in PATSTAT. The "country" information is in most cases the "place of business". I think it will be rather difficult to get those variables in a reliable common date set, unless you could match inventor data to US immigration/person/...

Re: Help with counting backward citation

And EPO patent data does not have a concept of "first" or "main classfication".
Therefore you as a researcher will need to define the criteria for "main" classification.
(Weighing at subsclass level ?)

Re: Impact of Legal Event / INPADOC data

Hello Leo, somewhere in cyberspace, your question was not picked up. The event_impact indicator (also called influence indicator ) is a remainder inherited from an older grouping system that indicates whether the "impact" was positive or negative from the point of view of the applicant (or owner). H...

appln_auth in PATSTAT2017b versus PATSTAT2018a

Keep in mind that the domain of the appln_auth attribute has changed. PCT applications will have "WO" in combination with a value in the receiving_office in PATSTAT2018a. This can lead to un-expected results when using "old queries". You might need to adapt them. Take the following query: SELECT dis...

Re: Is it possible to load sql server with the help of Talend application

Hello Sarajohnm
yes, it is possible to do it with Talend, but we can not help you to get the scripts to work.
Our information is that it is best to create the data base and tables outside the Talend tool, and then only use Talend to load the data into the created tables.
