Re: Accessing Data from ER Register PATSTAT Online
Hi Stefana, This line in your nested SELECT is causing the error: "SELECT distinct reg110_title. id , reg107_parties. id , reg107_parties.country " The result of this SELECT is a (virtual) table containing 2 columns named "id" which is never allowed because they cannot be referre...

Re: Non-patent-literature, encoding error?
Hi Elisa,
Make sure you imported the data as UTF-8. A Chinese character is typically encoded by 3 bytes.
The result of your query should look like in the attached screenshot.
Best regards,
Martin

Re: PSN_ID changed?
Hi Tim, Only some of the Identifiers in PATSTAT data are "stable", meaning they identify the same records across editions of PATSTAT. For details please see the Data Catalog or PATSTAT Global, section 4.3.2. While PERSON_ID is such as stable identifier, PSN_NAME (the PATSTAT Standardised N...

Re: Kind of IPC and CPC for patents in LOD
The LOD data set contains all IPC and CPC classifications of EP patents. "Inventive" and "Additional" (= non-inventive) classifications are distinguished. IPC and CPC classifications are in the newest version (so e.g. IPC is always the newest version of IPC8) and re-classified (=...

Re: Kind of citations in LOD
No, the origin of the citation (from search, from examination, opposition, third party observation etc.) is not in the data. However, citations provided by the applicant himself have been excluded from the data, because their value is typically very poor. Consequently, the citations which are left i...

Re: tls231_part01
Hi Leo,
So - in short - the file is corrupted on your USB Memory stick. I suggest you send your email address to the PATSTAT help desk (patstat@epo.org). I will then send you a link from where you can download the missing file.
Sorry for the inconvenience and best regards,
Martin

Re: tls231_part01
Hi Leo,
Which version of PATSTAT data are you using? 2017 Autumn Edition?
To check whether the downloading introduced some error:
- After downloading, have you compared the SHA values?
- Or have you tried to download that particular file again?
Best regards,
Martin
