Re: Patent Fractional Count at NUTS-2 level
Here is a (non-fractional count) example using NUTS-3 level (assigned to the patent applicant(s) on the EP-B1 publication), for EP applications that were granted between 2005 and 2019. In the event of more then 1 applicant in different NUTS regions, each region will get "a count". If you w...

SQL queries to create simple applicant / year based table.
Many researchers are looking for tables giving applicant rankings based on the number of applications. With PATSTAT, there are endless possibilities to specify the "conditions" for those applicants (or patent applications). Here are 5 variations on the same theme that have all been tested ...

Re: Search for Patent By company - HELP
Hello Amarina, The PATSTAT data base contains a bit over 61 million patent applications that have been applied for between 2000 and 2021 . All those patent applications have been published and some have multiple publication instances. Sometimes patent applications also have multiple patent applicant...

Re: Query by type of applicants
Hello Isabel, we had some out-of-forum exchanges on your request, so for the sake of the community, I replicate the main points here in the forum. Applications that have more then 2 applicants can easily be identified in the tls201_appln table using the pre-agregated field and condition: nb_applican...

Re: company gov non-profit
Just to let you know that we are looking into this. Although a simply question, it requires some deeper analysis, and we are not at the bottom of this yet... Although there is indeed a decline for French "COMPANY GOV NON-PROFIT" applicants from 2006 to 2007.(sheet 1_data), the decline is e...

Re: Reconciling Patstat and AMADEUS patent information
Hello Dvencappa, any of the 3 numbers formats are available in PATSTAT. But you have to match it to the correct attributes in PATSTAT. For application numbers, the data should be available in the tls201_appln table. For publication numbers, you should look in the tls211_pat_publn table. SELECT pat_p...

Re: multiple CPC_class_symbol code for the same application id
Hello Dev, patent applications will normally always have more then 1 patent classification code, be it CPC, IPC or F-FI. That is exactly the purpose of the classification codes, to represent different technical aspects of the invention. If you want to dive (very) deep into the "how and what&quo...

Re: Patent family landscape
Hello Eduardo, the sample is absolutely not random. An SQL query will give you 100% of the data available in the data base, and based on the criteria in your criteria. The problem is that your criteria is using the very incomplete data on patents filed in India. So that drastically reduces your samp...

Re: Searching for help for PATSTAT query
Hello Hannover student, the table tls906 is deprecated, you should use tls206_person. (or tls226) Check the data catalog relevant for your PATSTAT release under the documentation TAB here: https://www.epo.org/searching-for-patents/business/patstat.html Also keep in mind that you can not create views...
