Dear community,
I would like to confirm that the applicant's data in PATSTAT do not include any code that could be matched with other databases (for instance, the VAT number).
In that case, I would like to understand if the applicants' names in PATSTAT database already have some kind of harmonization so they can be matched with economic databases, or any harmonization should be made by the users a posteriori?
If so, could "OECD HAN" be used or are there already better solutions?
Thank you very much for your help.
Kind regards,
Telmo Santos

Re: Applicant's names harmonization
Hello,
You have to be care with this database, yes, it is harmonized but since it is done with a algorithm there is some mistakes that, maybe, could create a bias in your analysis.
kind regards.
Manuel Jiménez.
