ASEAN training day coming up soon!

Post by EPO / Asia Info » Wed Nov 22, 2017 9:46 am

Dear users,

Following the success of the Latin America training day in early 2017, the EPO's Asian Patent Information Services will again offer a full-day training course in Vienna, Austria in 2018. This time, the focus will be on patent systems, search and documentation from the ASEAN region.

The training will take place on 26 January 2018, from 10 to 17 hrs at the EPO in Vienna, Austria.

Have you ever wanted to know how to search in the Malaysian patent office's databases? Are you interested in learning about the life of a patent application in Indonesia? And what kind of data from the ASEAN countries does the EPO provide?

Inventors and investors are increasingly paying attention to member states of the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN). Based on a recently concluded agreement, European applicants might soon be able to extend the validation of their EP patents to Cambodia, and other countries in the region might follow in the future.

Based on these developments, the ASEAN region will become even more important for applicants and searchers alike. What are the most important features of the different patent systems? And what sources are available for prior art searches, patent monitoring or legal status retrieval?

Join us for a full day of presentations, discussions and hands-on training on patent information from the ASEAN countries! This event will help you to
• familiarise yourself with the IP landscape in ASEAN countries
• explore free online databases provided by national offices
• tackle challenges related to patent documentation such as "exotic" document types and number formats
• get an overview on ASEAN data available in DOCDB, INPADOC and other databases of the EPO

Participation fee: EUR 310
