Chinese Taipei: Pre-grant legal status data now also available in English

Post by EPO / Asia Info » Wed Dec 13, 2017 8:22 am

Dear users,

The Taiwan Intellectual Property Office (TIPO) https://www.tipo.gov.tw/mp.asp?mp=2 has made pre-grant legal status and transaction data (gazette information) available in English for documents published since 1950. The information, previously only available in Chinese, has been integrated into the English interface of the TWPAT database. The detailed content is generated by machine translation. (Please also refer to TIPO’s announcement http://twpat1.tipo.gov.tw/tipotwo/help/enews.htm).

The TWPAT database now includes links to machine-translated "transaction data" (gazette information) and "status" (pre-grant information) as part of the bibliographic information for A publications. As before, the "patent right change" (post-grant information) in English is displayed together with the bibliographic data of granted patents (B documents). The transaction data is updated in sync with the publication frequency of the gazette; legal status is updated daily. However, the English version is only updated monthly, and abstracts are delayed for about two months. Consequently, in order to avoid gaps, it is advisable to cross-check the legal status information with the Chinese version.

The EPO's step-by-step guide http://www.epo.org/searching-for-patent ... earch.html for searching English legal status information in TIPO's database has been updated to reflect these changes.

With kind regards,
