Citrix 6.5 and regtool.exe

Post by PhilRandall » Wed Oct 17, 2012 4:20 pm

We have a citrix 6.5 farm consisting of 4 servers. The taskmanager intermittantly is sitting at 90% on a couple of the servers.
the services process is sitting at about 80%,we have traced it to the regtool.exe which runs for each user and is taking up 6% for each user.
If we know the user is not using a smart card we are stopping their corresponding regtool.exe.
this also happened with our old Citrix 6.0 farm.
It is sometimes " Cured " but rebooting the server and other times for no apparent reason it drops down to normal levels.

Any help would be gratefully received

phil

Unfortunatly I didn't see this earlier.

First, what do you need Regtool for? Just disable it in autostarts.

We have the same Problem with services.exe killing at least two cores on Xenapp6.5.
But this is caused by the OLFSCARD.exe after starting Epoline.

While OLFSCARD seems to do very little, services.exe is running wild on the registry (mui-settings in our case).

the newest driver does not use regtool, but has the same problem

----EOLF always does this - tried process explorer and found it stems from ntdll.dll
and causes services.exe to go crazy on CPU. My only solution is to set affinity on both processes to only one of my CPUs - and tell users to use eolf locally. Tried asking for a better driver from EOLF, but "they do not support terminal servers".......the new driver does not use regtool, but has the same problem...

Have you solved it ??? Thanks

Try starting the "Smartcard Service".
Seems to be the problem.

Do contact the user Support for the link to get the latest Gemalto Classic Client software.
It resolves the problem of a glut on resources . It's version 6.2 patch 1
