Hello,
Does EPO or any of the users in this forum know of a version of the CPC ontology in .obo or .owl?
The current version in XML cannot be interpreted by the ontology editor protege.
I would be interested to hear from those working with CPC in protege.
Looking forwards to your response,
Mariana
CPC ontology in .owl or .obo format
Re: CPC ontology in .owl or .obo format
Hi Mariana,
I am neither much familiar with OWL nor am I using protégé. Still, my 2 cents:
To my knowledge, the only available data set containing the CPC patent classification in Linked Data format is in EPO's "EP linked open data" (product page: https://www.epo.org/linked-data . It has been modelled with RDFS but now OWL, however you are free to add to it.
A detailed specification of the data set is under the tab "Further Information" at the link mentioned above.
Info about CPC in general is on the CPC site https://www.cooperativepatentclassification.org/index.
CPC is available as RDF in N-Triple format, downloadable from https://data.epo.org/linked-data/download/. Protégé can load N-Triples.
I hope this helps. It would be interesting to hear about your project or business case.
Martin

The ontology editor protege cannot understand the current XML version.
I'd like to hear from folks who are working with CPC in protege.io games

Dear alihanima,
In our previous post we recommended to use the RDF we produce for CPC.
Did you make a test with this RDF?
Best regards,
User support
