CPC release updates handling

Post by cszamudio » Sun Feb 01, 2015 5:19 pm

Hello,

I've been trying to locate documentation on how revisions to the CPC are handled in patent entries accessed via OPS. When the CPC produces a new release, are all patents reprocessed and re-classified according to the latest release? Only applied to new patents?

Thank you for any information you might be able to provide me.

Dear Mr Zamudio,

Basically, all patents (new and old) are re-classified according to the revised scheme, however, as explained in http://www.cooperativepatentclassificat ... aq.html#Q6, the re-classification work may be done before or after making the revision of the scheme public.

Kind regards,

Just curious, is there any way one can tell (via software) when a re-processing has been preformed based on a revision?

Hi,

This is all what OPS Published services will show:

Code: Select all

<patent-classifications>
                    <patent-classification sequence="1">
                        <classification-scheme office="" scheme="CPC"/>
                        <section>B</section>
                        <class>28</class>

                        <main-group>1</main-group>
                        <subgroup>29</subgroup>
                        <classification-value>I</classification-value>
                    </patent-classification>
                    <patent-classification sequence="2">

                    <patent-classification sequence="3">

                        <section>B</section>
                        <class>28</class>
                        <subclass>B</subclass>
                        <main-group>7</main-group>
                        <subgroup>0064</subgroup>
                        <classification-value>I</classification-value>
                    </patent-classification>
                    <patent-classification sequence="4">
                        <classification-scheme office="" scheme="CPC"/>
                        <section>H</section>
                        <class>02</class>
                        <subclass>P</subclass>
                        <main-group>6</main-group>
                        <subgroup>08</subgroup>
                        <classification-value>I</classification-value>
                    </patent-classification>
                </patent-classifications>
But if you are referring to OPS classification service then you have some revision information available:
