Difference between USPTO database and OPS

Post by ay106 » Tue Jan 24, 2023 8:50 pm

Hello,
I am reaching out to get some clarification about the OPS database. First, I am assuming the eurospace database is accessed through OPS. But, I am wondering how much crossover in data there is between OPS and the USPTO database. I am querying data on patents and was wondering if there is some duplication between the databases. Thank you for your time.

Hi

We receive data from the USPTO and the exact coverage you can see here: https://www.epo.org/searching-for-paten ... tions.html

A bit more detailed coverage you can see here: https://www.epo.org/searching-for-paten ... eekly.html (DOCDB biblio coverage weekly updated table)

I would say that we have complete coverage of US biblio and image data. And we have also very good coverage of US citations: https://www.epo.org/searching-for-paten ... gular.html (Citation table and IP5 citation table).

I hope this helps
