Difference Single User / Network installation

Post by danielb » Thu Sep 11, 2008 10:28 am

Hi,

we plan to use the EPO Online Filing solution and need to know what's the difference between the two installation methods...

What are the advantages of the network installation?

Many thanks in advance,
Best regards,

Daniel

Hi,

with a network installation, the database processes are installed as services running in the background and the database including, forms, templates, user profiles, address book etc. can be shared between users in a network. Workstations in the network require only a thin client to connect to the server machine.

The stand-alone installation installs the database processes as actual process which only start when starting the OLF file manager. The database can therefore not be shared with other computers in the network and all data inside it is invisible to other colleagues on other machines - one would need to maintain each set-up individually.

The above is not exhaustive but should give you an indication.
