East meets West forum now open for registration!

Dear users,

As every year, also this year the EPO is hosting its annual forum on Asian patent information "East meets West" on 21 and 22 April 2016 in the beautiful city of Vienna. http://www.epo.org/learning-events/even ... w2016.html

As in the previous years, participants will first obtain an overview of the latest developments in the area of patent information in major IP markets such as Japan, China or Korea. This year however, part of the main programme http://www.epo.org/learning-events/even ... ramme.html is dedicated to emerging markets, particularly India and Eurasia. In case you are interested in patent information also from other fast growing markets, you can engage in in-depth expert information exchange at one of our discussion tables reserved solely for this topic.

To continue meeting your demands for patent information not only from a geographical point of view, we have decided to address also business-related areas such as Big data and linked data in Asian patent information or Patents and money in Asia.

Furthermore, from regular feedback, we have learned about the challenges users are facing with writing systems like Asian characters or Cyrillic letters when searching in original language databases. We will address this particular issue in one of the sessions and hope that you will be able to take back home some valuable tips and tricks on how to overcome these challenges.

Additionally, there will be plenty of opportunities for informal contact with experts from Asia and Europe during the conference or the evening event. This year, East meets West will take place at Palais Niederösterreich http://www.palais-niederoesterreich.at/ ... =home0&L=1 in the historical city centre of Vienna.

If you want to make your stay in Vienna even more intensive, training sessions covering two topics - Professional tools from Asia and Patent Information from Brazil and Mexico can be booked in the run-up to the forum.
