EPO SmartCard and Linux

Post by KrpaN » Thu Dec 04, 2014 10:34 am

Hi:

It took some time to make smartcard reader which has been obtained from EPO to work and response to Linux commands. For example:

ix:~> opensc-tool -l
# Detected readers (pcsc)
Nr. Card Features Name
0 Yes Gemalto PC Twin Reader 00 00

and

ix:~> opensc-tool -a
Using reader with a card: Gemalto PC Twin Reader 00 00
3b:7d:96:00:00:80:31:80:65:b0:83:02:01:f3:83:00:90:00

However, when EPO smartcard is inserted it is not recognized:

ix:~> opensc-tool -n
Using reader with a card: Gemalto PC Twin Reader 00 00
Unsupported card

Any suggestions on what to do.

Regards,
Bojan

The Online filing software is not designed to work on non-windows versions with the present smart card software and setup. However, for the purpose of all our web based products and services like the Online fee payment, Mailbox, my files and the new web based new Online filing (CMS), we are able to offer the Gemalto software for Linux/Ubuntu. Do contact our customer desk / support@epo.org to acquire this version. Support is however limited.

Hi everybody:

Some month ago i managed to install all requested libraries and drivers, so now I can use all EPO web based applications using EPO SmartCard. However, the drivers provided by the EPO were of no use. I obtained the correct drivers from our local reseller of Gemalto products. WIth a little help by the reseller I managed to make the system work.

My system is OpneSuse 13.2, kernel 3.11.10-29-desktop.
