file read/write access .ini glitch on Vista machines

Post by Ckral » Mon Oct 13, 2008 10:03 am

still requires

icacls "C:\Program files\EPO_OLF-TC\OLFClient.ini" /Grant jeder:(F)

(run with admin rights) ("/grant everyone: (F)" on english OS versions)

Let me guess, Q/A and the testing department does not get vista machines for budget reasons :D

This does not only apply to MS Vista, also on MS Windows XP - a thin client user must have read/write access to this *.ini file - and that is not always the case. This issue had been registered 3 weeks ago and will probably be fixed with v5 next year.

We are using virtualization and test several O/S incl. MS Vista - the installation guide will be published soon (still stuck in the logistical chain of translations and QA) and will include hints to the particular MS Vista situation.
