We are pleased to announce that the EPO has released OPS version 2.6.2, providing access to all OPS services via a REST interface.
The REST architecture brings benefits for both users and providers:
• lighter to use than SOAP
• easier to integrate for clients
• easier to support for Web 2.0 technologies.

In parallel to the RESTful interface, existing services will continue to support the old SOAP protocol. Any new services that come on line will only be available as REST.

Two such new services, using only the OPS RESTful interface are:
• ECLA: European classification descriptions
• European Patent Register data in XML

The 2.6.2 service is available for BETA evaluation. Activities for the final 2.6.2 release include:

• European Patent Register data XML schema to be finalised
• adherence to ST36 to be improved
• more data to be delivered
• ECLA data is currently static, we will update this dynamically in the coming weeks
• further evolution of the exchange-document response

Access the new RESTful OPS v 2.6.2 at: http://ops.epo.org/2.6.2/rest-services

For schemas and documentation please see OPS website: http://www.epo.org/searching/free/ops.html

The REST interface is new and we would like to be sure there are no issues associated with it. Send your feedback as a private message in this forum.

Kind regards,

OPS support

Dear OPS support,

you wrote in this thread: http://forums.epo.org/open-patent-servi ... c1582.html
Yes, there will be a possibility to download a full document, in one go, in PDF, using our new REST version of the OPS.
Beta of OPS REST will be available as of February this year.
I found in the new documentation on page 50 the following:
Note, it is not possible to get the full document in one request but you have to request every page separately. To do this, you can use the range parameter as shown below.
Will it be possible to download a full pdf document in the future?

Dear OPS Suppot Team,

... and what does the request for a complete PDF document look like? (This is not clear to me from the Reference Guide, Section 3.1.3 and my attempts to modify the example request for a single page did not work.) -- Any comment would be very helpful.

Thank you very much and kind regards,

User C66

Dear OPS users,

Please apologise for the confusion here. Indeed for the time being it is NOT possible to download full documents in one go, even with the REST services.

Our Development team had provided this feature internally, that is why the information has inadvertently gone out. However because of the very heavy robot usage on OPS and limited server side resources, we do not judge feasible right now to promote this feature to the outside users.

We will publish shortly a few tips on how you can assemble full PDF documents on your own: this is definitely easier with the REST interface.

Kind regards,

OPS support

Hi,

Having heard about the new RESTful service Beta at the Raw Data Day in Vienna, I thought I would have a look.

There are maybe still a few issues with the XSD files available from http://www.epo.org/searching/free/ops.html.

I ran the ops.xsd through the W3 Schema validator http://www.w3.org/2001/03/webdata/xsv?d ... &style=xsl# and found two undefined elements.

Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 did not like the XSD files either.

I look forward to hearing from you.

I just want to throw a quick shout out to the EPO support team. You guys knock it out of the park every single day helping people regardless of peoples problems. Kudos to you. I do realize this thread is 100 years old, but it is a clear demonstration. 11 days from start to finish and you have it in a production maintenance release. Thanks again for all your help!
