Please let me know, how Espacenet determines and differentiates a CIP application from a Continuation.?
For Ex: In a patent family,
1 US Parent having 2 Child applications, 1 CON and 1 CIP application. We know the parent and CON application will be grouped in 1 simple family.
The CIP, as it is a first filing it will be grouped in separate simple family. But for both the child applications the priority number and INID code 63 will be same.
Is there any other data or field Espacenet uses to determine the simple family of the above.?
