Hello Dear all,

Yes, the European Patent Office (EPO) has published more than 4 million patent applications as of 2021. This includes applications filed with the EPO under the European Patent Convention (EPC) as well as international applications filed under the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) that designate the EPO.

The EPO is one of the largest patent offices in the world, and it is responsible for granting European patents, which are valid in up to 44 countries in Europe. The EPO receives around 180,000 patent applications every year from inventors and companies all over the world.

The publication of patent applications by the EPO is an important step in the patenting process, as it makes the inventions public and allows others to view the details of the application. This can help to prevent others from patenting the same invention or developing similar technology without permission.

Yes, that's correct! As of September 2021, the European Patent Office (EPO) has published over 4 million patent applications since it first opened in 1978. This makes the EPO one of the largest patent-granting organizations in the world.

The EPO receives patent applications from individuals and companies from all over the world, seeking protection for their inventions in Europe. The patent applications are examined by the EPO's patent examiners, who determine whether the inventions meet the requirements for patentability under European patent law.

Once a patent is granted by the EPO, it provides the patent holder with exclusive rights to use and commercialize the invention in the countries where the patent is valid. This can be an important source of revenue for companies and individuals who have invested in research and development.

The EPO also provides a number of other services related to patents, including patent searches and legal advice. It works closely with other international patent organizations, such as the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), to harmonize patent laws and procedures around the world.
