New search features

Dear GPI Users,

We are glad to announce that a new version has been launched and the main new features are:
  • - New criterion DFE “Date of first exchange” for regular monitoring: DFE allows you to retrieve patent documents that appeared for the first time in GPI on a specific date. For example (monitoring of April carried out at the beginning of May):

    DFE = 201604 and IPC = A61K35/62 and A61P9/10

    retrieves documents added in GPI for the first time in April 2016, in the technical field of interest.
  • - New WITH operator for more accurate searches compared with the AND operator: a publication may have multiple items in the fields Priority, Applicant, Inventor, Citation, CPC and Legal status. For these fields, WITH enables you to retrieve publications where the search terms are present in the same item. For example, the field Legal status usually includes multiple legal events, each legal event having a date (EVD criterion) and a code (EVC criterion):
    • Publication 1:
      - 2016-04-11 [RAP2] TRANSFER OF RIGHTS OF AN EP PUBLICATION
      - 2013-10-23 [INTG] ANNOUNCEMENT OF INTENTION TO GRANT

      Publication 2:
      - 2016-04-25 [INTG] ANNOUNCEMENT OF INTENTION TO GRANT
      - 2010-03-01 [17P] REQUEST FOR EXAMINATION FILED
    EVD = 201604 and EVC = INTG retrieves Publication 1 and 2.
    EVD = 201604 with EVC = INTG retrieves Publication 2.
For detailed information, please have a look at the new GPI user manual at http://www.epo.org/gpi (PDF).

Please note that the use of date ranges is not yet permitted for DFE and EVD (e.g. DFE [201601, 201603] for a quarterly monitoring). We will improve this shortly - we keep you informed.

Best regards,

Patrick

Dear GPI Users,

The date range operator is now fully operational, e.g. to search every quarter documents added for the first time in GPI.

Please go to this page to download the new GPI user manual (version 2.5), which includes a new section "Regular monitoring" with sample queries for weekly and monthly/quarterly monitoring.

Best regards,

Patrick
