ops - published-data /images slow or timeout

Post by KerstinThoma » Fri Apr 01, 2022 7:30 am

Hi Team OPS,

The service does not seem to be stable at the moment.

For example, we receive for this request
https://ops.epo.org/3.2/rest-services/p ... .A1/images
very different answers.
Our manual test: 8:20 a.m. (Zurich time)

good: the expected image data within 5 seconds.
not so good: after 53 seconds the expected image data.
Or a timeout after 60 seconds.

Can you please have the service checked?
Thank you very much and best regards,
Kerstin Thoma.

Hi Kerstin,

What was image value URL throttling showing at the time of your search? What was overall value for the service? How many requests per minute were allowed? In documents that are bigger, this one is 50 pages, but we have even bigger ones (a lot of US and even WO's are even bigger) there is sometimes issue with page download due to issues with either changing/fluctuating throttling values or throttling not being looked at. For image retrieval, 1 page represents 1 request and its important to know how many requests per minute is allowed at the time of retrieval of that document.

We tried downloading your document but we could not recreate your issue. I do suspect that the service might be busy at the time, we have this issues recently due to bot attacks that are literally constant and difficult to fight off.
