Patstat 2015b - worst so far

Post by funkersmith » Tue Nov 17, 2015 12:31 pm

I've been trying to insert the new patstat2015b raw data in my database but it is full of errors:

- messed up encoding
- escape characters at the end of entries

Anyone facing the same problems?

I'm sorry to hear that you have had troubles loading the data into your database.

Among the many tests we do before shipping the disks, we load the csv files again in our DBMS (we are using MS SQL Server v2008). For 2015b we did not encounter any problems.

To better understand your problem, could you please give more details, like:
  • In which files / lines or in which tables / records did you encounter problems? What type of problem?
  • Which DBMS are you using? Which ETL tool?
  • Any specific setting or error messages?
In case you have not done so yet, you may have a look at the documentation "Hints for data loading" which is on your documentation disk.
