Public database available of SEPs that links to PATSTAT

Post by RudiBekkers » Fri Nov 06, 2015 5:11 pm

Dear all,

I would like to take this opportunity to inform you about the availability of the Disclosed Standard Essential Patents (dSEP) database.

This database is the result of a combined effort of several European and US researchers to collect, clean and harmonise disclosed SEPs data at thirteen major standard setting organisations (including ETSI, ITU, IEEE, ISO, and more).

All identified patents issued by the EPO or the USPTO are accompanied by a PATSTAT APPL_ID number.

The full database, as well as a codebook, are available at the following location: http://ssopatents.org

An earlier version of this database was first introduced at an event of the National Bureau of Economic Research:

Bekkers, R., Catalini, C., Martinelli, A., & Simcoe, T. Intellectual Property Disclosure in Standards Development. Paper at the NBER conference on Standards, Patents & Innovation, Tucson (AZ), January 20 and 21, 2012, available at http://home.ieis.tue.nl/rbekkers/Bekker ... R_conf.pdf

Best regards,
Rudi Bekkers
