Retrieve only one document per family in search results

Post by ilciclaio » Sat Sep 16, 2023 11:18 pm

Dears,
I'd like to have a suggestion or point me to the correct documentation for the following task.

When querying OPS with API "http://ops.epo.org/3.2/rest-services/pu ... ata/search" I get many documents per family,
but when querying espacenet with the same query string, I get only one document per family.

For example:
http://ops.epo.org/3.2/rest-services/pu ... =(PA=GEZE) AND (CPC=E05D15/565)
gives a results of 5 records belonging to 2 families.

The same query string in Espacenet retrieves two records, one per family:
https://worldwide.espacenet.com/patent/ ... 5%2F565%29

My goal is to retrieve from OPS the same results of Espacenet, one per family.
Is this possible?

thanks!
Marco

Hi,

That is not possible, I am afraid. Espacenet is a tool that uses de-duplication BR in order to offer only one result per family and publication step in a hit list and the rest of family members/pub steps via "Also published as" and Family subsection, and OPS is pure access to raw data without Busines Rules (BR) and gives results that match a query, family-independent.

Hi Vesna, Thanks for the quick reply.
Sad to hear that, it means I would need to do the coding on my side :)
but thanks for the detailed and exhaustive explanation!
Ciao
