Robot Detected?

We're using the published-data search method to find patents for a variety of different applicants but we keep running into the CLIENT.RobotDetected error.

I don't think we're going over any quotas as it occurs after only a handful of requests.

We've tried updating the script to wait 4 seconds in between each request but we still encounter this issue.

Do you have any more info about what might trigger the robot detection?

Should we wait longer between requests?

Cheers

Hi,

I am facing this issue in downloading the following documents:
WO2017024659A1, EP3055382B1

Every time I try to download these documents, I get the following error:

"Recent behaviour implies you are a robot. The server is at the moment too busy to serve robots. Please try again later"

After receiving this error, I am unable to download any documents for some time.

Please advise.

Thanks.

Hi,

Are you waiting 60 seconds before you trigger that search again? Actually, the best thing is to trigger another query after 60 sec and repeat that failed one down the line again.

OPS has a 60 second rolling window rule after error or rejection such you you describe below. Also, you need to check your URL throttling info in case the system is in overload altogether. In this case you should not do any searches until that changes.

You didn't specify which service you are using (are you downloading an image, biblio, claims...) so I cannot verify if there is some other reason for you not getting those publications, I also don't know when you had that issue exactly, but I tried today and I can get both numbers without a problem.

If you still have issues now send me email with your developers ID to patentdata Inbox and I will have a look.
