safe espacenet

Post by allirog » Mon Nov 04, 2013 12:49 pm

Dear men/women!
How safe is the espacenet search? In order to make a effective search, I must reveal important details of my invention. Has EPO any solutions for a safe search using espacenet?
Best regards,
Private inventor

Dear Allirog,

The log files are used internally at the EPO simply to determine the activity and data loads on the database server. The EPO does not check the content of these files nor do third parties have access to our log files.

However, Espacenet is not an https:// secured internet site. OPS (http://www.epo.org/searching/free/ops.html) Open Patent Services delivers the same data as Espacenet, you may like to have a look at this service and see if it better fits your expectations.

Kind regards,

Dear Espacenet.

I would like to take up again this thread and ask if you have any plans to become an "https:// secured internet site." like the EPR?

This is important to a large number of companies and people as an alternative to Google.!!

Dear Ivar,

Espacenet will be moved to a secure environment in the next release which is planned for the end of January next year.

The announcement was made during our annual Patent Information conference in Denmark at the beginning of this month.

Kind regards,

Lisa McDonald-Maier
