Search the full-text of international publications with "EP full-text search"

Post by EPO / EPAL Team » Tue Apr 30, 2019 11:01 am

The full-text of international publications of Euro-PCT applications published by WIPO and not republished by the EPO is now searchable in EP full-text search. This applies once the international publication has been mentioned in the European Patent Bulletin, i.e. once the WO publication number can be combined with its corresponding EP publication number in the user interface.

In the example below, EP 3469302 A1 corresponds to the Euro-PCT application published by WIPO with the publication number WO 2019025118 A1 and not republished by the EPO. Therefore, WO 2019025118 A1 is the “Source” (see red square on the right-hand side) used for EP 3469302 A1 for the scanned pages of the original international publication, and for the text of the description and claims (see red square on the left-hand side with links “Original” and “Text”).

The basic principle consists of combining an EP document with the most recent relevant international publication(s). For example, an EP A1 may use the description of the WO A9 and the amended claims of the WO A4.

To date, we have loaded international publications published by WIPO as of 2019 week 1 and older international publications will be included progressively.

Euro-PCT applications published by WIPO as of 2014 and not republished by the EPO are now available in EP full-text search.

Our objective in 2020 is to extend the coverage to pre-2014 WO documents.
