Vista support

Post by gaka » Thu Feb 19, 2009 4:00 pm

Can anyone tell me what the exact method for getting EPO to work on Vista is?

The system seems horribly flakey with v4 and Gemsafe 5 which are the only versions we've got to work so far. but not the website smart card log on thing dosnt work.

Please release a package which installs everything required in one hit to work on vista. The correct version of GemSafe isnt even up for download anymore. And the one that does work is flakey and somtimes fails to recognise the card etc. This is rubbish. Vista has been out for ages now and I'm fed up of trying to cobble together different versions and trying things 100 times to make this POS work.

Dear gaka,

You can indeed log on to the epoline website's secure portal on Vista. The follow statement was on the page where
you downloaded GemSAFI 5.1 from

For EPO smart cards issued after 11 November 2007 or valid to 11 November 2010 or later

Please uninstall any previous versions of the software before installing this new version. The software runs on Microsoft Windows 2000, XP and Vista (Home and Business) only. This version supports only EPO smart cards issued after 11 November 2007 or valid to 11 November 2010 or later.

Users of Microsoft Internet Explorer 7.0 will need to uncheck the Protected Mode option and enable SSL 2.0 to allow secure access to Online Services.

Secondly, You will find a Frequently asked questions on smart cards /readers on the Getting started page, which also discusses Vista set ups.
