Why is "total result count" reduced to 10000?

Post by martien » Sun Nov 14, 2021 11:32 am

Hi OPS Support,

Actually I've to analyze some search profiles, where it regularly comes to
more than 10000 results. Since this is the maximum reported a lot of actions
are necessary to get the real number of possible results. Alternatively
it is possible to check the totals manually by using Espacenet.

I think, your search engine delivers the exact number. Is there any reason
I have to understand, why you don't send it with the results?
Could this be changed?

Regards,

Martien

Hi,

OPS and Classic Espacenet both truncate on 10.000. Only New Espacenet shows numbers of exact searches but we don't have a webservice for data as in New Espacenet at this point in time and results from New Espacenet should not be directly compared to those OPS gives, especially for CQL searches without filed identifiers.

Vesna for OPS support
